In exchange for the release of these two soldiers, Zelenskyy has called on Russia to release Ukrainians taken as prisoners of war.
"Ukraine is ready to hand over Kim Jong Un's soldiers to him if he can organize their exchange for our warriors who are being held captive in Russia," said the Ukrainian president on X, adding that Kyiv would capture more North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia.
"For those North Korean soldiers who do not wish to return, there may be other options available," said Zelenskyy.
As per Ukraine's Security Service, one of the two North Korean soldiers shared that he thought he was going to Russia for "training" and was not expecting to be put on the frontlines to fight.
