CAUAYAN CITY — A cargo vessel sank off the coast of Barangay Diana, Maconacon, Isabela on Wednesday (Dec. 4) due to continuous heavy rains, local authorities said.
The vessel, whose owner has not been identified, had been seeking shelter along the Maconacon coast since Typhoon “Pepito” (international name: Man-yi) battered the province.

It was, however, unable to return north due to the effects of the northeast monsoon and shearline, said Bernard Plasos of the Maconacon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. FEATURED STORIES

Authorities said a drifting tree trunk, due to rough seas, may have struck and punctured the boat’s hull.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
